Beaching it? For sure. Barbecuing? Absolutely. Sitting out summer fun in pain? Not on this season’s to-do list. But whether it’s an old football injury or you’re still suffering from shoveling, help is right around the corner – literally.

Located at 314 North Broad St., Dr. J. Adam Wagner and his team at Vital Link Chiropractic Care are dedicated to relieving their patients’ pain, no matter the cause. “I use every specialty available to me help a patient get and feel better,” says Wagner, who brings over 15 years of chiropractic experience to his growing practice and often spends over an hour with every patient. “We’re extremely focused on pain management. Our forte is helping guide a patient through that process.”

While Wagner employs a wide spectrum of technology in his office, including the well-documented spinal decompression therapy, what sets his approach apart from the rest is what happens beyond his doors and examination rooms. “We’re very connected to the local health community and heavily supported by area physicians,” Wagner explains, on the options he offers his patients. He is a firm believer that no one opinion, specialty or diagnostic process be valued over another, but rather, in most cases, be used in tandem to relieve pain: “You can be assured that if you come here, you’ll be led to the correct treatment, whether that’s in my office or somewhere else.”

Recently, Vital Link has added the latest weapon in their arsenal to combat pain: acupuncture. “The process has a very low-risk to high-benefit ratio,” says Jean-Paul Rouzier, a nationally board-certified acupuncturist, who also trained in Beijing. “In its simplest terms, acupuncture encourages the body to activate its natural healing processes and defenses without any injury to the body.”

Wagner, who avails himself of the treatment as well, is a firm believer in the process – even if he can’t pinpoint a precise medical explanation. “I’ve seen it do wonders. In nueropathic pain cases [pain caused by acute or chronic damage or dysfunction to the nervous system], traditional treatments are simply ineffective. A patient’s pain is just too great.” he says. “But acupuncture seems to be perfect. It can help reduce inflammation, aberrant conduction/physiology of the nerve and activate endogenous pain-killing pathways.”

So get off the bench and back into the summer game with family and friends. And if you happen to need a little extra help, Wagner, Rouzier and the staff at Vital Link Chiropractic Care are sure to have something to offer.
